"What do you think of her?" he leaned over and asked. I looked across the way at the lovely woman sitting alone. She had beautiful long brown hair and a very irritated look on her face.
"She is beautiful but I think her evening isn't going a she had planned." I remarked. I reached for my purse then quickly wrote 'Would you care to join us?" on a napkin and waved the waiter over.
"Would you please give this to the woman at that table?" I asked with a smile, he nodded and immediately spoke to her. She looked over slowly at our table, I could tell she was debating. Then with a slight shrug she grabbed her purse and walked over.
"Hello," she smiled as she sat down next to me.
"Hello to you, evening not going as planned?"
"Not in the least, I do believe I was stood up!" she said with mock exasperation then laughed.
"I can't believe anyone would stand such a lovely creature up," he said as he raised his glass towards her.
"His loss is our gain, please join us this evening?" I said as I motioned to the bottle of wine on the table. Her eyes twinkled and I knew things were going to get interesting.

ReplyDeleteThat brought back memories of my first wife, although the roles would have been reversed. She would have been the one that noticed the woman, and then she would have asked me to approach her, rather than taking matters into her own hands.
