The sun was still in the rise over the red mountain tops. The morning air was warmed from the heat emanating off the large boulders. The silence broke only by the sounds of the crickets off in the distance. She smiled over her shoulder at him. He knew that look, trouble was bouncing around in that head of hers.
Steadily they climbed up, around the brush and through small crevices of stone. Farther away from the main road and out of way of possible prying eyes. In the distance he could hear the sound of rushing water. He stopped for a moment to catch his breathe and watched her disappear ahead. The possibilities of this morning excited him and pushed him to continue the climb.
As he slowly climbs the last set of rocks he heard a splash over the sound of the waterfall. Easing over the top he saw her clothes, casually thrown on the ground as she made her way into the water. She beckoned him to join her.
"The water is warm," her voice trailed off as she eyed the waterfall.
Can I go hiking with you? *grin*
